Nodular cast iron / ductile iron (DI) is a kind of high strength cast iron material developed in the 1950s. Its comprehensive properties are close to steel. Based on its excellent properties, nodular cast iron has been successfully used in casting some parts with complex force, high strength, toughness and wear resistance requirements. Nodular cast iron has rapidly developed into a very widely used cast iron material, second only to gray cast iron. The so-called “iron instead of steel”, mainly refers to ductile iron.
